The application for the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY 2017 will be open in September 2016.

The participants will work on contemporary orchestral, ensemble, and chamber music repertoire in daily rehearsals and lessons. Their work will be supervised by artistic director Wolfgang Rihm and principal conductor Matthias Pintscher as well as internationally acclaimed instrumental coaches. The resultant programs will be performed in several concerts during LUCERNE FESTIVAL in Summer.

– Advanced music students and professional musicians
– Age limit: 32 years

The course management will decide on active participation upon receipt of the registration forms and recordings. The results of the selections will be announced by end of March 2017. There is no right of legal appeal. No correspondence regarding the decisions will be conducted.
Applicants must include a recording of themselves playing the required audition repertoire; the recording may be enclosed with the application or uploaded online. Please note that the recording must not be edited in any way. In certain cases the jury may decide to invite applicants to give a live audition on-site in Paris as well.

Course fee
There is no fee for active participation in the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY Orchestra.

The LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY will cover the travel expenses of each active participant.

The LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY will arrange and cover the cost of accommodation of each active participant.

Each active participant in the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY Orchestra will receive a daily lump sum for the main meals.

The LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY will provide all instrumental parts for the orchestral and ensemble repertoire. The parts for the solo and chamber music literature have to be acquired by the participants.
